Primary Inspiration
Jacky is a self-taught cook and we once cooked together for an event. When I arrived, he had overproofed pizza dough he was going to throw out. I wanted to show him how to pivot when a recipe doesn’t go as planned.
Jacky is into fitness with a high calorie burn, so I made something handheld, high-protein, and filled with digestible carbs and healthy fats — the perfect post-workout refuel.
Secondary Inspiration
Jacky’s signature Naruto apron and love for anime paired perfectly with @meghanthee_stallion’s “Otaku Hot Girl” — that track set the tone.
His family had just BBQ’d that weekend, and that inspired steak + slaw, barbecue vibes, and the flame element via flambéed steak.
We both love scallion pancakes, so I channeled those flavors and techniques into the pizza dough. I also used shrimp paste to show how you can add seafood umami without needing full seafood — a surf & turf trick!
