Fortune Cookie

Happy Lunar New Year of the Tiger

Lunar New Year for me is family, food, well wishes, good luck & celebration

The fortune cookie then to me is a great symbol of the Chinese New Year. It’s gold, looks like a yuan bao or ingot, you get a fortune & get to eat it too! ⁣

Thin, sweet & shatters in your mouth; these cookies are as fun to eat as they are to make. They are very similar to a French Thuile or ice cream cone which it can be molded into various shapes

They are easy to make but also extremely finicky when it comes to the molding the shape but with a bit of practice and edible mistakes, you will be cranking them out in no time

Bake at 300F for 8-10 minutes⁣

Major Tip!⁣
Only make 2 cookies at a time. They will cool/harden faster than you can mold and fold them!⁣
Wear cotton gloves to handle the warm cookie. It will be easier than with hands⁣
Cook them only until they are light blonde! They will keep cooking/darkening as they sit⁣
If the cookie hardens too fast, simply place it back in the oven for 10-15 seconds to make it pliable again⁣

You can totally omit shaping them. Just bake them off & eat them as is!⁣
