What’s the secret to living a long & healthy life? If there’s anyone I could think of asking it would be my Gong Gong.
At 104, he was undoubtedly one of the most energetic, youthful & healthy individuals I know. He definitely found the fountain of youth & was keeping it for himself.
To see him effortlessly tie his shoes, walk up & down stairs, jump over puddles, or cook his own food; all these things that at the age he was at, was remarkable
Aside from his longevity, one of the things I remembered the most was when I competed in one of my first culinary competitions.
As immigrants, the local Chinese newspaper is important as it’s where the Asian community gets the news, etc & I had made it onto one of the newspapers. It wasn’t a big spread but I vividly remember how proud he was & his smile & reaction when he told me he had been taking it downtown with him to show all his tai chi friends. To me, that moment is something I’ll never forget. To see someone be proud of you, especially your family.
I hope you all enjoy my Gong Gong’s recipe, just like the noodles, I hope they bring you and those you cook them for longevity and happiness.
