FRIDGE FREESTYLN’ EP.20 @golden.gully
The Dish
- Miss Vickie’s French Toast
- Spiced Coconut Custard
- Jalapeno Ginger Grape Chutney
Primary Inspiration
Bilal is a big Miss Vickie’s chip fan—especially the Jalapeño flavor—so I made that a centerpiece of this dish. As a proud Pakistani creator who often shares his culture (including with his lovely mom who told me how proud she was of him), I wanted to incorporate spices from Pakistani cuisine into this creation.
Secondary Inspiration
Pakistani food is bold and aromatic. I wanted to bring together flavors like jalapeño, ginger, cinnamon, and maple syrup in a fun, sweet-and-savory dish. I also styled the French toast to resemble a hash brown for a visual twist.
Since Bilal practices jiu-jitsu, I created a high-protein, post-workout meal: Greek yogurt for protein, grapes and maple syrup for fast-digesting carbs to help stimulate muscle recovery.
Bilal is known for sharing humble, globally inspired dishes. Since we rarely see him in fine dining settings, I wanted to elevate simple ingredients to restaurant-level presentation just for him.
